Pool Table Situation, Office Hours, etc.
I just posted the minutes from last night, so anyone that is interested in that, make sure to give them a look over.
Last night was great, Thanks to all the Senators and Interested Freshman Candidates that showed up. It looks like we should have some great people joining us on Senate.
Okay, since I have been asked more questions about the Pool Table this week than anything else I will start with that. My main men, Justin Kuiken and Bill Ballard (who are way more skilled at carpentry than me) say they believe they can fix the Pool Table that was donated to us by the Coles (thanks again Drs. Kevin and Tricia). So last night about 7 or 8 guys (who I owe a Big Thanks to as well) helped us carry the VERY HEAVY pool table from the Java City area to the Theatre Scence Shop in Jeschke. Another really quick Thank You to Dr. Kim Bartling for letting us use that area. From their they will try to repair it and if everything goes right we will bring it back down the the Java City area.
If it doesnt work, we will look at renting a pool table from Great Amusement much like we did last year. They are a good company who gave us an awesome deal last year, and on top of that they maintain and upkeep the table for free, so if worse comes to worse, that is a very good option to be left with. We have also looked at the possibility of renting a pool table for a couple of months while our pool table is being fixed. We will hopefully make a decision on that a little bit later, based on how confident we are in our fixing job.
Last night, our Senators also signed up for Office Hours and Committees to serve on. I dont have the committee list with me right now, so Loralee Grimmius or I will hopefully post that tomorrow, so that you know who is representing you on USFs many committees.
Heres our Office Schedule as it stands right now (it may and probably will have some changes at some point, ill update when changes are made)

10am - Mica Olson

One last note, we also approved funding for USF's own 80's Music Video Remake Club. You can check them out at this link
here.
Jordan Farrell and crew have some very hilarious stuff going on with that club, so check them out and ask how you can get involved!

Initial Meeting - 2009-2010 Student Senate
Well here it is! We have finally put together a blog for the USF Student Association! Loralee, Ashley, and I will be using this blog to keep you the students informed of what is going on with the Student Senate and the campus as a whole.
Tonight is the first meeting of this years Student Senate, tonight the 22 already elected members of the Senate will be meeting the incoming freshman that wish to serve the student body on the USFSA.
Before I post the agenda for tonight, lets update you on what has been going on with USFSA this summer and already this last week.
Firstly, most of you came back may have noticed the situation with our washing machines. This last year our contract with CoinMach (our current provider expired) we were hoping to get a contract with a new company that would allow us to use our Student ID's to pay for washing rather than having to manually feed quarters.....Unfortunately, that wont be happening this year. Student Development informed me that we couldnt make arrangements with another company so we will be using our current on-campus washer and dryers for at least another year. However, the good news from this, is that they WONT be raising our prices, despite what they had posted in our dormatories.
Secondly, anyone that has been through the lower level of the Student Union this week may have noticed that our Pool Table (which we recieved from the gracious Drs. Kevin and Tricia Cole...Thanks, guys.) is broken. This is unfortunate because we thought we had a good deal going with getting a free table. Since we cant replace the stand on it we are going to have to dispose of it. However, not all hope is lost. We will probably end up renting a pool table much like we did last year for the Java City area, it will be a better quality table and the company will upkeep for us at no additonal costs.
Alright.....thats all I can think of now, I'll post anything else of significance that I can remember later.
